The Story Behind our French Linen Bedding
As business owners, products from our debut collection will always hold a special place in our hearts. That’s why we thought we would share the story behind our French linen bedding collection and how it came to be.
Annette was born out of our passion for beautifully furnished homes. We envisaged a brand which will carry a range of stylish and bespoke homeware products for modern homes, which can help create cosy and inviting spaces that you can look forward to returning to after a long day at work or at school. And we thought to ourselves, what better way to launch our brand than with bedding, since we spend up to a third of our lives in the bed! Our priority was to bring affordable luxury in the form of quality bedding to our customers. But what exactly do we mean by quality bedding?
Quality bedding to us means sheets which promise a good night's sleep. We envisioned sheets which are soft and luxurious to touch, and at the same time gentle on sensitive skin. It should be made of fabric which is breathable and moisture wicking, so as to ensure that one stays cool and dry even in the humid weather we have in this part of the world.
More importantly though, quality to us means bedding which is made to last so that it can accompany you through life's little moments - curling up in bed after a long day, snuggling with loved ones, or relaxing in bed with a good book (and a glass of wine, maybe), for a good many years.
To round it all up, it was important to us that the fabric came from a sustainable and natural source.
With these requirements, all our research led us to linen. For all the amazing qualities of linen which we have listed here, it was a clear winner in our search for the perfect bedding fabric.
Our sheets are made of 100% pure flax fibers sourced from France, where the world’s finest flax fibers are produced. In addition to this, our linen sheets are put through a delicate stone washing process. The results? Soft and luxurious feeling sheets which drape beautifully and have a charming fade to the colour.
Discovering stonewashed French linen has completely changed our perspective of linen, which is often viewed as “stiff” or “rough”, and we have never looked back since. Deep down, we knew changing perceptions and removing misconceptions towards the linen fabric wasn't going to be easy, especially for a population who may not take an immediate liking to the inherent natural creases of the linen fabric. However, we were so convinced of the positive qualities of linen and loved the feeling of stonewashed French linen so much ourselves that we knew we had to pass on our knowledge and share the beauty of these French linen sheets with you. It is our hope that the qualities of linen would be more widely appreciated and that more of us would be able to experience the magic of French linen, just like we have.
